My Surgery My Choice Book a consult

Disclosure, privacy and terms

Everything a patient is entitled to know before trusting us.

Written to be read, not to be scrolled past.

01 How we are paid

What you pay us

Fixed fees for defined work: the My Surgery, My Risk report, a specialist consultation, and the two-opinion panel. Each fee is shown before you pay, with what it includes and excludes. The library is free and requires no account. That fee is the same whatever you decide afterwards — including deciding against surgery, or having it at home.

The referral margin, explained properly

When an international patient is treated in India, the price quoted already contains a margin for whoever brought that patient to the hospital. It is set by the hospital, it is standard across the industry, and it does not disappear if nobody refers you — it simply stays with the hospital. Where you reach a hospital through us, part of it comes to us.

We cannot remove that margin, and we will not claim to. Any service telling you they have abolished it is either mistaken or not being straight with you.

What we can control is the order in which things happen, and that is the entire point of this service:

  • The clinical conversation comes first. You are told your options — including treatment at home, and not operating at all — before any hospital is named.
  • You get the transcript. Every word of the advice is in writing, so it can be tested against your own doctor or against anyone else's opinion.
  • You may use any facilitator you wish, or none. Nothing here obliges you to travel through us.

The doctor advising you

The consulting specialist receives their consultation fee and takes no share of any referral margin, from us or from anyone else. If you later choose them to operate, they are paid their standard surgical fee, exactly as they would be for a patient who walked into their clinic.

This is not how much of the industry works. Facilitators routinely obtain opinions from doctors free of charge in exchange for the promise of future patients, which produces rushed and half-hearted consultations and quietly makes the operation the only thing worth the doctor's time. We pay for the consultation so that the consultation is real.

What we never do

  • We do not take custody of your treatment payments, deposits or refunds — you pay hospitals directly.
  • We do not accept payment to recommend one hospital, surgeon or product over another in our educational content.
  • We do not sell advertising space on this site, and no content here is sponsored.
  • We do not present a referral relationship as an independent recommendation.

02 Your records and privacy

What we collect

What you send us: your contact details, your medical reports and images, your history, and the record of your consultation. Nothing more than is needed to prepare and conduct it.

Who sees it

The clinical team preparing your case and the consultant conducting it. Your records are not sent to any hospital or facilitator without your specific permission, and they are never sold, rented or used to build marketing lists.

Recording and transcription

Consultations are transcribed using automated tools so that you receive a full record. You are told before recording begins; you may decline and still have your consultation; you may ask for recording to stop at any point. The transcript is provided to you. You may ask us to delete your records at any time, subject to any period we are required to retain clinical records for.

Writing to your own doctor

Where you ask us to, we correspond with the doctor who looks after you at home — before travel and afterwards — so your follow-up continues locally. This happens only with your permission and only to a doctor you name. You may withdraw that permission at any time.

The site itself

We use basic analytics to understand which pages are read. We do not run advertising trackers.

03 The limits of what we provide

  • This website is education, not advice. Nothing on it is a diagnosis or a recommendation for your case.
  • A consultation is a remote clinical opinion. It does not include a physical examination and does not replace care from a doctor who can see you in person.
  • We do not provide emergency care and cannot respond to urgent deterioration. Use your local emergency services.
  • No outcome is guaranteed. Likelihoods are given; certainties are not available in medicine.
  • Treatment is delivered by hospitals, not by us. The clinical care, its quality and its contract are the treating institution's responsibility.

04 Complaints

If a consultation did not meet what this site promises, write to us describing what happened. Complaints are read by the founder. We will respond in writing and tell you plainly what we will and will not do about it.
